I suspect, like many trailers, that it captures the best parts of the book to the extent that there isn't much left unsaid.

Bell's speaking style in the video is kind of soft. He employs the questioning tone -- stopping just short of the super-annoying poet's voice intonation. It is too bad, as I think that questions he raises are well worth grappling. I don't understand those who dismiss his questions out of hand.

I guess I had hoped that they might have been asked by a better wrestler.Dubbahdeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00075702513873912334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7503737103502630690.post-33683849881572116442011-09-06T09:25:01.684-04:002011-09-06T09:25:01.684-04:00That could be fun: imagine theologians trying to ...That could be fun: imagine theologians trying to estimate their systematic errors.jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01792036361407527304noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7503737103502630690.post-10715268964795786982011-09-05T15:09:28.606-04:002011-09-05T15:09:28.606-04:00James, I wasn't thinking so much of the voice,...James, I wasn't thinking so much of the voice, as I was the reasoning and flow of the text: put forth a hypothesis and state the argument to support it. I had a hard time following Bell's "train."Sponge-headed ScienceManhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12914014641719908195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7503737103502630690.post-16237227341351426312011-09-05T13:14:30.546-04:002011-09-05T13:14:30.546-04:00"write like a scientist"
using passive v..."write like a scientist"
using passive voice?

I know some who do better, but passive voice still afflicts wide swaths of the literature. I've never seen scientists write in that abominable rapid-fire question style, but I've run across it from the "Einstein was wrong" and the magic energy field types.jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01792036361407527304noreply@blogger.com
